Pardon by Nasomatto

*****
Year: 2011

Notes: cinnamon, dark chocolate, magnolia, tonka bean, oud, sandalwood
So, once again, the oud bandwagon smugly trundles through the perfume stratosphere...

Slot Pardon in-between Duro and Black Afgano and you'll have a fairly good idea of where it's going. It's lighter, less sweet but more floral than Duro, while alluding to the dryness of Black Afgano. Although unlisted, one can also detect either some cedar or Iso E Super further cheapening its already unimpressive stature.

With a spicy woody-oriental drydown that gently simmers close to the skin, the opening is more like a fusion of patchouli and immortelle (courtesy of both the chocolate and magnolia) – smelling rather similar to Comme des Garçons' Luxe Patchouli (but significantly thinner and devoid of any pepperiness) than something comprised of a healthy serving of oud.

Personally, Nasomatto is just a pseudo high-end niche house that one has been unable to warm up to even in the slightest. Unfortunately, Pardon contributes very little towards rectifying the situation.
