Comment: By Night White is part of the By Night Collection
Personally, one wonders if there was any point in the existence of the By Night duo, as they both miserably fail to enhance Profumi del Forte's portfolio of releases. Where By Night Black is an uninspiring woody male scent, By Night White is a floral, creamy and powdery creation for women, which overlaps the properties of its siblings Versilia Aurum (a floral-gourmand or a nut-free loukhoum) and 150 Parfum (a powdery floral).
The spicy citrus opening initially sets By Night White apart from the other two. But soon it's the same old story – a powdery heliotrope core, plus a vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood and white musk foundation. Versilia Aurum differentiates itself with jammy top notes, a more complex floral heart and a balsamic-infused base. 150 Parfum tones down on the florals, focusing more on the amber and woods. With By Night White, it basically slots itself somewhere in-between, with a zestier citrus array and some spices.
There's no doubt that By Night White is a very impressive floral-oriental, with its airy, mellow and powdery floral-vanillic demeanour. But it begs the question of whether it was necessary to release three variations of the same theme, when two would have been more than sufficient.
One star deducted for being too discreet and lacking in the longevity department.
