Year: 2009
Notes: lime, bitter orange, tangerine, basil, juniper berry, cypress, fig leaf, lavender, cistus, jasmine from Grasse, yerba mate, pine resin, frankincense, cedar
Comment: By Night Black is part of the By Night Collection
Although described as a woody-aromatic, By Night Black also possesses a predictable marine freshness.
While the discreet presence of the herbaceous and coniferous nuances are pluses, the rest of the composition is woefully underwhelming. Smelling like a watery designer sport fragrance, the rest of the accords are feeble, with a scratchy and ever-intensifying cedar note compensating for the terrible shortfall. A little sweetness, from the cistus and jasmine, gradually becomes noticeable but it simply isn't enough to renew one's interest.
Projection stays very close to the skin and its lasting power is below average.
