Year: unknown
Notes: coriander, frankincense, labdanum, patchouli, ambergris
Opening with some coriander, Kalos is an ethereal fusion of frankincense, ambergris and labdanum. With just a touch of patchouli to add a slight earthiness, it's most definitely reminiscent of Frédéric Malle's Musc Ravageur, yet more natural-smelling and with frankincense substituting the clove.
The impression it conveys is milky and ambery sweet, with an elegant silky tone. With no saltiness discernible during its discreet development, a vague resinous smokiness tenderly weaves in and out. Unfortunately, while it smells alluring, it clings to the skin for dear life after a couple of hours – refusing to further enchant the wearer's olfactory sensors with its sensual aroma.
Although it's long-lasting, one would have preferred some extra oomph in the sillage department. But it remains an intriguingly beautiful creation nevertheless.
