Year: unknown
Notes: petitgrain, rum, galbanum, olive, patchouli, cedar, guaiac wood
Peace and Love is in reference to the '60s hippy movement, where the use of patchouli essential oil was hugely popular (but more for masking the odour of marijuana than for the patchouli aroma itself).
The petitgrain is slightly sweet and yet restrained, while the galbanum remains incognito. Melding with an olive-infused boozy patchouli, this combination of notes works surprisingly well. But as it evolves, these components gradually weaken against emerging generic soft woods. Beyond that, there's hardly any progress for the rest of its lifespan, with traces of patchouli still evident.
As patchouli fragrances go, it isn't a complete success but nor is it one of the worst. With reasonable longevity and moderate projection, if only the patchouli and base were both more substantial, one would have considered it a real winner.
