Notes: orange petitgrain, sage, violet, rose, jasmine, honeysuckle, tonka almond, musk
Ben Gorham (founder of Byredo) says that Green is an olfactory ode to the scent his father wore during the late '70s and early '80s. Unfortunately, anything verdant about it lies in the name alone.
The reality is that It's an aromatic floral, with an emphasis on the jasmine and rose. The orange petitgrain, sage and violet conspire to generate a green aroma, but the end result is bright rather than herbaceous or astringent. Paired with some honeysuckle, the tonka almond harbours a restrained nuttiness – becoming more discernible after the florals have faded. With a generic musk base, the drydown is soft, sweet and slightly powdery.
While agreeable, one can't help but deem it as woefully inessential with mediocre lasting power.
