Year: unknown
Notes: citrus, bay laurel, orange blossom, violet, carnation, woods
In Greek mythology, the orange tree was a gift from Mother Earth to Zeus for his wedding. Hesperia represents an olfactory encapsulation of the bark of an orange tree in full bloom.
Featuring a fresh, buoyant and sweet opening, its tight construction is extremely impressive and well-balanced. The floral notes are both subtle and not easy to prise apart, while the bay laurel isn't too intrusive. As a result, each component remains well-proportioned, with a gentle woody-musk foundation.
Unfortunately, like many hesperidics, its invigorating opening quickly dies down to a faint skin scent. While this may be expected to some extent, for an Eau de Parfum, one was hoping for more resilience as there's hardly a significant trace after an hour or so. By this point, all that remains is a vaporous spicy trail.
Whilst being highly reminiscent of a contemporary citrus Eau de Cologne, its fleeting beauty is still something that one is able to admire, as well as being more compelling to wear than Asprosa.
