Year: 2010
Notes: bergamot, pear, lily of the valley, carnation, vanilla, sandalwood, white musk
Pineapple, banana, coconut, melon, peach, apple, calone...
There exists a personal list of no-no fragrance notes that one has great difficulty abiding by (largely due to both skin chemistry issues and synthetic misrepresentations). It appears that after experiencing Wild Pears, as well as Profumum's Dambrosia, pear will now be the latest addition to one's slowly growing personal list.
It starts out smelling of unadulterated pear but not of the fresh, lactonic or jammy variety. Something's not quite right and there's a cold synthetic quality about it that's impossible to ignore. By the drydown, there's hardly any development but, just like Profumum's disappointing effort, the same smell of cheap air freshener or body lotion rears its ugly head.
Originally known as Poire, Wild Pears marks a refreshing change but it's also one of Montale's worst offerings.
