Dambrosia by Profumum

*****
Year: 2008

Notes: pear, grape, fig, almond, sandalwood
Dambrosia is a very confounding creation. While it's hardly as vibrant or green as Profumum's other fig offering, Ichnusa, it's somewhat fruitier due to an equally prominent pear accord. One is unable to discern any grape but both the almond and sandalwood provide a creamy foundation, further emphasising the milky properties of the fig – almost to the point of creating the illusion of a very natural-smelling coconut note.

In some ways, Dambrosia comes across as denser than Ichnusa but, unfortunately, there's also an oily accord ingrained within the creaminess of the composition. One would even go as far to say that it's highly reminiscent of body lotion or cheap air freshener. The overall olfactory effect fluctuates from promising to unflattering, but it's unable to firmly decide which side of the fence it would like to remain.

While Dambrosia has a longer lifespan than Ichnusa, it's not quite as convincing or delectable.
