Year: 2004
Notes: green hortensia, orange blossom, lily of the valley, rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine, cedar, cashmere wood, white musk
Comment: Ortensia is part of the Ti Amo Collection
The Ti Amo ('I love you' in Italian) collection was the debut fragrance collection by Italian perfumer Hilde Soliani. It comprises of five fragrances, with 'TI AMO' being an acronym that represents the first letter of each of the five releases (all of which are the Italian names of particular flowers):
T = Tulipano
I = Iris
A = Anemone
M = Margherita
O = Ortensia
In addition, the flowers listed above weren't randomly selected, as each one encapsulates a cherished emotion or memory. Ortensia is a touching reminder of the kiss of her late-grandmother.
As a woody-floral, it's tooth-achingly sweet with an emphasis on the white florals (although green nuances from the lily of the valley sometimes make their presence known). With a prominent cashmere wood accord seeping through, the proceedings unfurl against a floral (and slightly powdery) musk backdrop.
Smelling similar to blond tobacco during the drydown, both sillage and longevity are rather good.
