Comment: Gentile is part of the Exclusive Collection

Gentile is an intriguingly pleasant woody-aromatic, with florals "built around the most gentle components of the vetiver roots." (sic)

Opening with both a torrid and peppery herbaceous opening, one is able to discern possible traces of rosemary and citrus. The geranium and osmanthus soon arrive to broaden the olfactory spectrum, thus slowing down any potential herbaceous headway being made. And as the osmanthus and daphne increase with vigour, so does a honeyed fennel-like sweetness that later yields a spicy overtone.

As the composition gradually unfurls, the emerging vetiver is more clean than smoky, which is uncharacteristic of Javanese vetiver. But, then again, such an exploration into the other aromatic properties of vetiver is certainly welcome. Once the vague vetiver earthiness becomes more perceptible, a mild cedar accord soon materialises – contributing towards a drydown that's fruity sweet, spicy, slightly earthy and tranquil.

Interestingly, there's something about the composition that reminds one of an Estéban woody-aromatic offering (albeit richer and with considerably more depth). Still, it's a respectable release that's worth investigating, but it should be noted that it's not a vetiver-centric fragrance by any means.
