O by Blood Concept

*****
Year: 2011

Notes: raspberry, rose hip, thyme, leather, birch, cedar, tigernut sedge, metallic notes

Comment: O is part of the Red Series / Eau de Parfum review

Blood Concept is an Italian niche house that, through its fragrances, portrays an olfactory interpretation of each of the four human blood types (as opposed to what État Libre d'Orange was striving to achieve with Sécrétions Magnifiques). Boasting metallic accords, with no discernible florals, O represents man's primeval nature.

Classified as "visceral and intense" and "carnal and primitive", it's also the least impressive of the four offerings from this house. With a tart raspberry and rose opening, it's simply a clone of Tom Ford's Tuscan Leather. As a birch leather scent, with underlying rubbery and metallic nuances, it fails to offer anything new apart from a new BS marketing concept and an eye-catchingly manipulative bottle design.
