Miss Charming by Juliette Has a Gun

*****
Year: 2006

Notes: lychee, wild berries, Moroccan rose, white musks
As much as one possesses a healthy regard for lychee, Miss Charming's lack of originality is so apparent that this accord alone is not enough to salvage one's interest in the composition.

It may be a pleasant rose-musk fragrance on the surface but, the truth is, it's simply a shameless regurgitation of Montale's Roses Musk. The only significant difference one can discern between them is that Miss Charming is less high-pitched, with the fruity notes both softening and fleshing out the rose.

Although it might sound like an improvement on Roses Musk, it's not. The problem is that Miss Charming isn't as tenacious, plus its seamless blending is too slick and clinically bland. In fact, for the majority of its lifespan, it verges dangerously close to smelling like fabric softener.

With medium longevity and minimum sillage, its charisma is not beguiling in the slightest.
