Comment: Tubéreuse 3 Animale is part of the Tubéreuse Trilogy
Being the third and final instalment in the Tubéreuse Trilogy, one considers Tubéreuse 3 Animale to be more of a gender neutral offering than the other two.
In contrast, it possesses a darker aroma with less emphasis on the florals, although a floral sweetness is still apparent. Instead, it's more of an autumnal take on the tuberose theme – with a comforting fusion of labdanum, immortelle, hay, grass and tobacco creating a warm, honeyed and slightly salty backdrop for the floral accords. With a soft interweaving of herbaceous accents, the mid notes resemble a vintage perfume base. Several hours later, all that remains is a beautiful and ethereal floral sweetness.
Unfortunately, the use of the word 'animale' is utterly misleading, as one is unable to discern anything animalic in the composition, which severely brings it down in one's estimation. While the labdanum may be responsible for the leathery nuances, one was expecting some real animal musk, such as castoreum. As a result, one was originally tempted to deduct one star, but one has refrained due to its other redeeming qualities.
Projection is moderate, with good persistence.
