Notes: lemon, aniseed, liquorice, lavandin, violet, hay, coumarin, frankincense, tonka bean, vetiver

Comment: Liquo is part of the Hatria Collection
Described as a hay and liquorice scent, Liquo is really more about the lavandin, liquorice and coumarin.

Compared to lavender, lavandin is more austere and camphorous than its sweeter and more floral counterpart and, when blended with the rest of the accords, the overall aroma is redolent of dried grass and lavender. With salty nuances, an abundance of liquorice and a rustic charm, Liquo also shares striking stylistic similarities to some of the releases from another Italian niche house, Sigilli.

During the drydown, the coumarin still continues to prevail but any presence of frankincense is very slight. With some tonka bean and vetiver in the base, most of the notes gradually fall by the wayside, allowing a vetiver and coumarin pairing to continue pulsating on the skin for quite some time. But all the while, faint traces of lavandin and liquorice are still discernible.

While one finds it an interesting offering, it still leaves one cold. Admittedly, one isn't a fan of liquorice but, even if that wasn't the case, the composition relies too heavily on the coumarin to accentuate its olfactory concept. Still, those seeking something more robust than Hilde Soliani Profumi's liquorice-infused Saaliiisssiimo should investigate Liquo.

Projection is moderate with average staying power.
