Year: 2015
Notes: bergamot, blackcurrant, peach, apricot, saffron, salt, acacia, may lily, cyclamen, magnolia, ylang-ylang, patchouli, vanilla, musk
Comment: Kanat is part of the Hatria Collection
Kanat starts out smelling highly reminiscent of Montale's Red Aoud, as the apricot and peach effortlessly meld with the slightly medicinal saffron.
With a subtle salty accord, the floral mid notes that soon emerge are indistinguishable and somewhat powdery. But it's at this point that the composition falls apart – exhibiting a crude vanilla and wafer coupling, alongside a patchouli and musk base (with cedar-like embellishments). As for the drydown, it's absolutely terrible.
Personally, one isn't too impressed with what appears to be a half-baked concoction. The opening is unoriginal, the mid notes are uneventful, and the base is both dull and poorly blended. As always with this house, tenacity is very good but that's of little consequence when one is aware of its severe flaws.
