Year: 2008
Notes: coffee, tobacco
Comment: Bell'Antonio is part of the Teatro Olfattivo Parma 08 Collection
Dedicated to her late-father, Antonio, Bell'Antonio is an olfactory memento of the smell of his cigars in the foyer of the local theatre, while queuing for tickets.
The wafts of a recently-opened packet of blond tobacco, with a complementary swirling aroma of roasted coffee beans, best describes this effort. Emitting a demure woodiness, it's an austere and noticeably dry offering, with any sweetness discernible kept to an absolute minimum.
It's a respectable creation but provides minimal development (even after the gradual resignation of the coffee). It also stays close to the skin for its entire duration, eventually yielding a comforting musky tobacco drydown.
With so-so lasting power, it's evocative of those freshly depleted tobacco tins that were used in English primary schools, to house pupils' word cards (a common practice during the '70s and early-'80s). Personally, one would much rather purchase a decant for nostalgic purposes instead of wearing it in public.
