Not a Perfume by Juliette Has a Gun

*****
Year: 2010

Notes: ambroxan
It's been said that imitation is the highest form of flattery, and Juliette Has a Gun is one perfume house that's certainly no stranger to reproducing the olfactory creations of other houses (Montale, Guerlain, Chanel...). With not even one remotely original composition to their credit, one finds it extremely difficult to grant this house any kudos at all.

And so, one is left even more perplexed by the release of Not a Perfume, as well as very concerned by the new lows this house has reached. While one has personal reservations about the release of a scent that comprises of only one aroma chemical, the thing is that diluted ambroxan was already bottled and released as a fragrance two years earlier – courtesy of Molecule 02 by Escentric Molecules.

So, in order not to repeat oneself, if you wish to read a review on bottled diluted ambroxan, please refer to one's original review for Molecule 02. It seems very clear that imitation is no longer sufficient for Juliette Has a Gun's conspicuous laziness and greed, as Not a Perfume is simply plagiarism of the highest order.

This is a very sad state of affairs for niche perfumery indeed...
