Originally known as Aoud Hoggar Motta, Steam Aoud is one of Montale's weakest oud releases.
Essentially, it's an aromatic oud affair without much development (though some rose is discernible towards the drydown). However, the overall effect is disappointingly muted and impoverished, with an overwhelming sense of incompleteness.
The composition generally succeeds in recreating the olfactory illusion of steam-induced dampness, but it's not particularly something that one would view as either alluring or compelling. With a murky undercurrent of iodine and below average longevity, it's one Montale oud that one can happily live without.
