Year: 2009
Notes: absinthe, geranium, vetiver, oakmoss
Aquae Noblis starts out by smelling like a doppelgänger of another herbaceous Profumum creation, Victrix. But the pepper is absent here, with the bay leaf and coriander being replaced with geranium instead.
It isn't until the eventual drydown that the absinthe makes a stark appearance, providing the composition with a moderate sweetness. Although the vetiver is no longer prominent by this point, it can still be detected providing a certain degree of support to the blooming absinthe accord. The overall effect is slightly rich and creamy, but still firmly within the realms of what would be considered masculine.
Unfortunately, while its longevity is acceptable, its conservative sillage is rather disappointing. It's a respectable release but one was expecting something more compelling and substantial from this house.
Maybe next time...
