Notes: apricot, ylang-ylang from the Comoro Islands, Egyptian jasmine, vanilla, benzoin, resins, mahogany, sandalwood
While Vanilla Extasy is more complex than Vanille Absolu, it's not as dense or heady. Even though that's not necessarily a bad thing, it's still a beautiful mélange of vanilla, florals and subtle woods, further accentuated by a juicy accord of ripened apricot. Overall, the composition is well-blended and, as sweet as it is, doesn't end up smelling like an exuberantly sweet dessert.
With very good sillage and excellent lasting power, some praise should be given to Montale for creating such a unique vanilla interpretation. Although it isn't as impressive as it could have been (maybe a richer and creamier vanilla presence, accompanied by some spices, would have made a tremendous difference), it's still a delightful release that comes highly recommended.
