Year: unknown
Notes: Sri Lankan black pepper, ginger, cardamom, elemi, Arabian leather, cedar, teak, vetiver, Tibetan rock rose, benzoin, guaiac wood, Mysore sandalwood, musk
Greyland commences with an intense blast of black pepper and spices. Once this stage subsides, the woods, resinous elemi and leather emerge and eventually dominate the composition. With below average longevity, the drydown comprises of a faint base of leather, woods and musk. Sadly, the sandalwood is barely discernible but a distinct lavender-like accord resounds throughout, emitting aromatic shades of grey.
Upon further musing, it reveals itself as a very masculine, dark and introspective fragrance. However, its gravely morbid demeanour also generates olfactory associations with modern inner city life, especially during the harsh winter months – low-rise impending grey skies, smog and urban decay, vast expanses of concrete landscapes, pylons and filthy train stations, emotional isolation and urban disenchantment...
Personally, it's a very austere spicy-woody scent that depresses far more than it actually inspires.
