Year: 2009
Notes: Calabrian bergamot, Indian pepper, Guatemalan cardamom, saffron, leather, oud, ambergris
Comment: Aoud Leather is part of the Intermediary Collection
Aoud Leather fails to venture anywhere close to the greatness of Oud Cuir d'Arabie but it also doesn't possess any redeeming qualities either. Although there's a demure smoky leather accord running throughout, the oud is almost non-existent. As a result, it's devoid of any edge, intrigue or personality.
Also, the composition is severely blighted by the presence of an overwhelming putrid note – quite possibly the exact same accord that dominated Issey Miyake's awful L'Eau Bleue d'Issey pour Homme, smelling like rotting vegetables in the waste disposal.
With weak sillage and poor longevity, Aoud Leather is both impotent and unpleasant to wear.
