Comment: Au Delà – Narcisse des Montagnes is a limited edition release
Due to the scarcity of narcissus absolute, Au Delà – Narcisse des Montagnes is a limited edition flanker of the original Au Delà.

Although the structure of Au Delà – Narcisse des Montagnes is quite similar to Au Delà, excluding the addition of narcissus, Au Delà – Narcisse des Montagnes is devoid of any neroli or spicy accords. As a result, Au Delà – Narcisse des Montagnes is more floral, with a richer, darker and more intense floral demeanour.

The olfactory profile of Narcissus des Montagnes is green and herbaceous, with a spicy-balsamic undertow. As a result, one can sense a crisp galbanum-like verdancy in the opening, alongside some leathery facets. When the jasmine finally emerges, the spicy-balsamic properties of the narcissus become more apparent – producing a beguiling composite aroma of fresh daffodils. And even after the green aspect has dissipated, those leathery subtleties continue to reappear every so often.

As the jasmine interweaves with the narcissus' balsamic properties, its beautiful floral creaminess is marginally sweetened courtesy of some amber. With the oakmoss anchoring the composition, and exuding a deep mossy earthiness, the drydown reveals a serene balsamic woodiness, with creamy floral remnants.

While one found Au Delà a pleasant experience, this revised edition is more complex and satisfying. And even though one wouldn't personally classify either of them as chyprés, Au Delà – Narcisse des Montagnes is much closer in spirit to the floral creations of yesteryear. However, it does have a couple of noticeable flaws – namely, underwhelming tenacity (with moderate sillage) and a not so interesting late-drydown.

Regardless of these imperfections, it's still another solid effort by Bruno Fazzolari.
