Frescoamaro by Profumi del Forte

Year: 2012

Notes: melon, cucumber, gin, mint, juniper berry, cypress, Egyptian violet leaf, osmanthus, Damascus rose, Haitian vetiver, sandalwood, musk
Described as a "chameleon perfume", Frescoamaro exhibits various facets throughout its unusual development – ranging from green, fruity, aromatic and floral to woody.

Opening with an invigorating coupling of melon and cucumber, the mint serves to accentuate these notes rather than overwhelm them, leading one to conclude the use of spearmint. Both the violet leaf and cypress bestow a touch more verdancy, whilst the aromatic accords reside in the background. One is also extremely surprised to discover that the juniper isn't as prominent as originally hoped.

As the composition calms down, the floral aspect makes itself known. With the osmanthus craftily rounding off the astringent edges detected before, the rose is soft and velvety. When the woody-musk base finally emerges, the vetiver is considerably discreet but fuses effortlessly with the sandalwood. And all the while, those aromatic nuances continue to persist...

Created by Bertrand Duchaufour, it incorporates melon and cucumber effectively well. Lasting around six hours, with moderate projection, it's not a creation that one would consider owning but can still recommend.
