Chaise Longue by l'Ó Profumo

*****
Year: unknown

Notes: orange, petitgrain, bay leaf, elemi, frankincense, styrax, labdanum, patchouli, cedar
Based on the aroma of a wooden long chair or upholstered sofa, Chaise Longue primarily focuses on cedar and frankincense, with a subtle leathery undercurrent of labdanum.

With brief citrus top notes, which effortlessly segue into the emerging elemi, it's a smoother niche alternative to the designer equivalents, such as Gucci's Gucci pour Homme and Rochas' Lui. And although Chaise Longue is nowhere near as boisterous, there's something to be said about its less raucous construction.

While it could have been slightly more potent, it does persist for most of the day, emitting gentle resinous wafts every so often. With a styrax-infused bitterness discernible throughout, it's a beguiling and spiritually appeasing creation that isn't as jarring to wear as most cedar-centric offerings.

Four stars for a cedar fragrance?! Well, who would have thought...
