Notes: matcha, sage, green leaves, violet, jasmine, iris, patchouli, woods

Comment: Oribe is part of the Basic Collection and is only available in Japan

Parfum Satori is a Japanese niche fragrance house and Oribe is described as a tea scent.

Opening with a pungent, earthy and medicinal citrus-green blast, it goes about creating a good first impression the hard way. Consisting of the green bitterness of matcha (a Japanese green tea), green leaves and sage, the top notes certainly aren't for the faint hearted.

Although its synthetic aura rapidly dissipates, the earthiness becomes dirtier up until the point when the florals surface. By the mid notes, the proceedings are far more palatable with a gentle sweetness infiltrating the bitter matcha. But with the arrival of the iris and woods, the bitterness still remains, albeit less aggressive.

Possibly the closest Western release that one can compare Oribe to would be Vero Profumo's Onda. However, while Onda is unforgiving with its spicy-green assault, Oribe allows some sweetness into the mix.

Possessing more presence than other offerings from this house, its longevity is also an improvement. Smelling very unique, it's also one of the few efforts from this house that smells unequivocally Japanese.
