Year: 2010
Notes: Calabrian bergamot, Sicilian lemon, Paraguayan petitgrain, Moroccan neroli, Persian galbanum, Scandinavian birch leaf, Slovenian moss, Virginian cedar, Madagascan vanilla, white amber, musk
Comment: Grand Néroli is part of the Collection Originale
Opening with a delightfully fresh citrus-infused neroli accord, Grand Néroli possesses an astringent effervescent kick that many neroli creations lack. Plus the transition from the top notes to the creamy powdery base is both effortless and engaging.
However, the best aspects of the composition come to an abrupt end within an hour or so, leaving nothing but a faint soapy trail with woody-green nuances. Personally, one would have preferred a slightly higher concentration to alleviate this issue (as well as ensuring better staying power).
Still, it's a more robust alternative to the classic neroli Eaux de Cologne and is just as sophisticated.
