Comment: Pentachord White is part of the Pentachords Collection
Consisting of no more than five synthetic molecules, the Pentachords Collection confirms the dramatic change in Andy's style that one had first noticed around the release of Orange Star – a greater degree of simplicity with a more noticeable 'chemical' influence. IFRA restrictions related or not, one thing's for sure: the new Tauer style focuses more on synthetics than ever before and one isn't terribly impressed.
With regards to Pentachord White, it's simply an olfactory representation of those candied retro sweets, Parma Violets, with powdery and creamy undercurrents. Although the metallic harshness of both the violet and iris are much too crude for one's liking, the composition is nowhere near as unpleasant as Pentachord Auburn.
It's an interesting experiment but, alas, nothing more than that.
