Gershwin by Maria Candida Gentile

*****
Year: 2009

Notes: Florida grapefruit, winter lemon, Sicilian lemon, bitter orange from Ivory Coast, black pepper, sycamore blossom, water lily, lotus, Madagascan clove, frankincense, Sri Lankan sandalwood

Comment: Gershwin is part of the Classic Collection

As a citrus-aromatic, Gershwin is a tribute to the famous 'Rhapsody in Blue' by the American composer.

Opening with fleetingly vibrant accords of frankincense, the citruses and clove rapidly arrive to provide additional support. Unfortunately, that's as interesting as it gets, as the composition soon becomes one-dimensional with the emergence of a metallic or aquatic undertone (courtesy of both the water lily and lotus).

With a demure woody-aromatic base, it eventually smells terribly designer-esque. Possessing moderate sillage and longevity, it's probably the least impressive release from this house.
