Tyrsenoi by Sigilli

*****
Year: unknown

Notes: ozonic notes, marine notes, herbs, Spanish broom, poppy, tobacco, musk
While not being terribly enthusiastic about aquatics in general, Tyrsenoi is a step up from the generic offerings on the market. However, it still doesn't change the fact that this creation doesn't completely succeed in winning over one's affections.

Although the ozonic and marine notes aren't as synthetic (or even prevalent) as initially feared, both the broom and poppy beautifully manage to provide some much needed balance. The subtle underpinning of tobacco adds a masculine dimension, as a delicate and herbaceous saltiness permeates throughout.

Yet again, Sigilli's musk drydown threatens to weaken its stature, but not to the detriment of the composition's efforts in conveying an olfactory rendition of the sea. With good longevity and average sillage, one was tempted to rate it lower but feels that it deserves more respect than other releases from the same scent family.
