Comment: Mauvais Garçon is part of Les Contextuels Collection
For such a gentle, warm and comforting spicy-woody-oriental, Mauvais Garçon isn't what one would consider to be an edgy (or even masculine) fragrance, especially if the name is anything to go by.

During its lifespan, its syrupy sweet and resinous qualities are both undeniable. With a judicious bergamot and elemi opening, many of the accords indicate their presence within moments of application: the integral peppery and spicy components... the prominent nutmeg... a caramelised lavender tempered by herbaceous flourishes... subdued honeyed white florals, complementing an ambery creaminess from the tonka bean... the accumulative jammy remnants emanating from a dusty woody base...

Its general demeanour is enticing but stays very close to the skin. However, as compelling as it may be, it isn't terribly original as it's stylistically similar to some of Estéban's woody Eau de Toilettes. With that said, both its respectable staying power and tender milky epilogue (particularly evocative of Vaniglia by Santa Maria Novella) redeem Mauvais Garçon from being given a lower rating.
