Thundra by Profumum

*****
Year: 1996

Notes: mint, leaves, patchouli, white musk
Thundra was one of the first Profumums ever smelt, back when this house was still relatively unknown outside Italy. If someone had predicted that Profumum would one day become a one's favourite perfume house, based on Thundra alone, one would have immediately questioned their sanity...

Despite its disappointing longevity, there's nothing particularly dire about the composition but its mild aromatic qualities ring too much of a hollow note. With a herbaceous and minty opening, its ethereal and delicate nature makes itself known from the outset. The emergence of the patchouli provides a subdued dirty earthiness to the proceedings but, after this stage, it remains quite banal for the rest of its very short lifespan.

It's an intriguing creation that smells of quality, but one is simply unable to justify spending so much money on something so insubstantial.
