Ichnusa is a fig fragrance that could easily give Diptyque's Philosykos a run for its money, especially since it's an Eau de Parfum.
It's a wonderfully green aromatic, with a juicy and slightly earthy green fig note. The opening is unapologetically sharp and full-bodied, supported by an accord of freshly cut grass. Sadly, much of its greenness is significantly toned down by the unexpected emergence of a prominent vanilla base – a base very similar to that of Montale's Red Vetyver. With below average longevity, one is then forced to question the price.
Although it's a disappointing case of 'close but no cigar', Ichnusa is still both a higher quality and longer lasting alternative to the very short-lived Philosykos.
