Year: unknown
Notes: hibiscus from Guinea, Arabian rose, roses from Grasse, oud
Within the realms of the Montale oud line, Aoud Queen Roses is a more opaque version of Aoud Roses Petals' relatively translucent nature. It's not quite as dark, mysterious and heady as Black Aoud but, like Aoud Roses Petals, the main emphasis is on the roses.
Compared to Aoud Roses Petals, however, it's more substantial and satisfying to wear. Also, although the oud is toned down, it's much more detectable throughout the composition's development. But out of the three, Aoud Queen Roses most definitely offers the richest and most prominent rose accord.
With that said, its main downfall is that it's not as tenacious as expected, with projection that fails to maintain its intensity over time. But those seeking a far more satisfying Montale oud, where the rose is denser and more mysterious, should investigate this one.
