Embruns d'Essaouira by Montale

*****
Year: unknown

Notes: iodine, spices, Atlas cedar, sandalwood, Eastern musk
Embruns d'Essaouira pays homage to the western Moroccan coastal city, Essaouira. However, even though it may have succeeded in capturing the aroma of Essaouira in an aluminium bottle, that's probably the best thing one can say about it.

It's simply a lighter variation of Montale's over-exploited aquatic or marine theme, with the clichéd and abundant use of iodine and woods, infused with subtle notes of grapefruit and spices. With abysmal longevity, it's an Eau de Cologne attempting to pass itself off as an Eau de Parfum, while remaining both soapy and banal.

It's quite possibly one of the worst Montale releases ever.
