Boisé Vanillé by Montale

*****
Year: 2006

Notes: bergamot, lemon, Jamaican pepper, Canadian cedar leaf, lavender, Bourbon geranium, Italian iris, patchouli, tonka bean, vanilla
Boisé Vanillé is an extremely arid woody vanilla creation, which is much more boisé than vanillé. Unfortunately, it gradually becomes clear that it's not as endearing or versatile, after several wearings.

In conjunction with pepper, geranium, iris and woods, the composition veers dangerously close to smelling like a somewhat modernised version of Molinard's Habanita. However, the emergence of a murky cedar accord not only diffuses such a comparison but also greatly mars any redeeming qualities initially showcased.

Overall, it's very linear and stays close to the skin but it does possess excellent staying power.
