Notes: grapefruit, lemon, rosemary, marine notes, ginger, rose, oud, vetiver, oakmoss, ambergris, white musk

Comment: Aoud Forest is part of the Bronze Collection

Aoud Forest sounded very promising, on first hearing about it. Yes, it did sound like the oud concept was being stretched a little too far. But, then again, who wouldn't have been intrigued by the possibility of both oud and an array of green notes all present within one creation? After some time spent in the creative doldrums, this house appeared to be on the verge of releasing something radical once more.

Oh, but how the bitter disappointment set in after smelling it...

Frustratingly, it's not what the name implies but is simply yet another nondescript woody-aquatic. Yes, it's true that Montale has already released enough aquatics already but, hey, one more surely wouldn't hurt, now would it? In fact, it's very much a citrus-laden reworking of Vetiver des Sables, with discreet amounts of oud and rose added for good measure.

So, please don't expect a prominent woody-green theme because it's not even remotely that.
