Comment: Tubéreuse 1 Capricieuse is part of the Tubéreuse Trilogy
As the first entry in the Tubéreuse Trilogy, Tubéreuse 1 Capricieuse sets the scene for the supposed tuberose theme.

With a dash of citrus, the top notes are medicinal and rooty, mainly due to both the saffron and iris. Alongside rubbery facets, the ylang-ylang and tuberose gradually emerge, adding a slight sweetness to the proceedings. By this stage, whatever verdancy previously discerned is promptly defused. As the florals continue to blossom, the saffron finally yields and the iris lowers its volume considerably. As for the suede, it eventually joins forces with some cocoa and white musk to form a grey musky late-drydown.

Smelling austere and clinical, before briefly evolving into something sweeter and more approachable, it's mainly a tuberose and iris blend, supported by a leathery-musk base. It's also rather refined in its general demeanour, never brashly announcing its presence. On the whole, it's a charming effort and an admirable first entry.

Largely remaining close to the skin, its staying power is moderate.
