Year: 2015
Notes: resins, vetiver, woods
"A bouquet of woods."
Opening with a birch tar halo, surrounding a compact woody heart, Odoon initially gives the impression that it's a bone-dry woody affair, before a creamy aspect soon creeps in.
One can identify birch, sandalwood and cedar, with a yeasty dankness coming from the vetiver base. As for the resins, frankincense is probably one of them – used to accentuate the composition's smoky nuances. Smelling similar to the inside of a sawmill, particularly near the drydown, its creamy and dusty woodiness echoes that of L'Artisan's Bois Farine.
Although it could be considered to be the most approachable offering from this house, it lacks sufficient sillage and smells relatively thin (although its longevity exceeds ten hours). It's a noble release but, as always with the fragrances from Pekji, one feels that more time should have been spent fine-tuning it.
