Comment: Contre Pouvoir is part of Les Contextuels Collection
Exhibiting a promising (albeit brief) citrus and cardamom opening, the liquorice in Contre Pouvoir appears to be the star accord. Disappointingly, one was expecting it to be more centred around the vetiver. It's certainly there but is less prominent than originally hoped.

Moments later, the composition opens up further to gently unveil smoky, boozy and warm accents interweaving close to the skin. Elegant notes of maté, vetiver, tobacco and melilot (also known as sweet clover) competently flesh out this olfactory essay on the omnipresence of rich and powerful men. But one personally thinks that the addition of juniper berry would have enhanced such a depiction.

Still, with moderate sillage and very good longevity, it's one of the better offerings from this house.
