Santa Maria Novella / Colonia Classica by Santa Maria Novella

*****
Year: 1850

Notes: bergamot, citrus, spices, orange blossom, musk
Originally created for Catherine de Medici (who later went on to marry Henry II), and initially christened Acqua della Regina (Water of the Queen), Santa Maria Novella (also known as Colonia Classica) is both a respectable and timeless hesperidic Eau de Cologne.

It's both invigorating and sophisticated, with a bright and realistic citrus opening that's soon softened by florals, spices and a light musk. Once again, it's rather fleeting but is moderately stronger than Colonia Russa.

Bearing a somewhat close resemblance to Acqua di Parma Colonia by Acqua di Parma, Santa Maria Novella / Colonia Classica is a very uplifting citrus interpretation for warm summer days.
