Nejma Six by Nejma

*****
Year: 2009

Notes: bergamot, mandarin, petitgrain, green apple, blackcurrant, pineapple, coconut, frankincense, oud, tonka bean, Siamese benzoin, sandalwood, white musk
While the first three Nejmas have been strongly ‘influenced' by numerous Montale's creations, one has noticed a significant shift away from the main source of Nejma's inspiration (with most of the emphasis now on lactonic fruits and florals, and a minimal amount of oud residing firmly in the background).

With respect to Nejma Six, it's mainly a tropical fruit salad fragrance, with some added frankincense and oud. Even though it contains three personal no-no accords (pineapple, apple and coconut) one was still prepared to give the composition the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, after testing it, it now ranks as the worst release in the Nejma series so far.

There's a troubling imbalance in the blending and it's also not well-behaved on the skin. As for the frankincense and oud, both are certainly present but they only serve to further highlight what is an unpleasantly dark, murky, sharp and designer-esque fragrance. Actually, it's very much in the same olfactory vein as Givenchy's appalling synthetic Xeryus Rouge.

It's one niche scent that's certainly not worthy of jumping through hoops, in order to acquire.
