Year: 2002
Notes: rubber, petrol, leather, tobacco, dry woods, patchouli, amber, vanilla, vegetable musk
Regardless as to whether it's synthetic or not, Nostalgia (serving as an olfactory ode to vintage racing cars) is a bewildering and yet compelling creation.
From rubber and petroleum top notes, to a woody leathery oriental base, one can detect the smells of acetone, tyres, car repair garages, plastic and leather car interiors, and exhaust fumes. With substantial projection, not only does Nostalgia possess superior longevity over Comme des Garçons' Tar and Garage, as well as Bulgari's Bulgari Black, it's also a more accurate rendition of this amalgamation of post-industrial aromas.
Although it's not to one's personal tastes, it's extremely avant-garde and certainly worth investigating. However, for a pungent woody-leather, one much prefers the more natural-smelling Oud Cuir d'Arabie by Montale.
