Year: unknown
Notes: citrus, myrtle, wild rose, hay, woods
Comment: Eau de Cologne review
Hay is an olfactory accord that one is still on the fence about. That's not necessarily because one has a dislike for this note (quite the contrary) but more due to the sense that there's usually a thin line between hay working surprisingly well in a composition (Serge Lutens' Chergui) and one that results in unwarranted olfactory distress (Lorenzo Villoresi's Yerbamate).
While Fieno shares the same herbaceous and powdery aspects of Yerbamate, it's nowhere near as intolerable to wear. Maybe it's because the composition is greatly enhanced with citrus, herbs and wild rose, thus offering a greater olfactory balance (while not encouraging any nausea).
With good longevity, it comes highly recommended as a more palatable alternative to Yerbamate.
