Although it's not a straightforward patchouli fragrance, Patchouli Noir isn't that terribly dark either.
Instead, it's an easy to wear patchouli in pretty much the same vein as its amber counterpart, Ambre 114, with the addition of subtle floral notes. But one of its main shortcomings is insufficient presence, with below average longevity and sillage. Also, one was hoping for something significantly earthier (especially going by the name). Alas, its general performance is too polite and demure, while failing to break any new ground.
Granted, it's both pleasant and worth investigating but it's nowhere near as compelling as Ambre 114.
