Fougères Marines is an interesting aromatic fougère, which starts out smelling like a high-quality aquatic. As a result, it's surprisingly fresh, bright and invigorating, with aromatic undertones. There's also a noticeable array of mint and citrus accords, which may be largely due to the geranium.
Yes, it does smell like it's based on a pre-existing designer fragrance but it's neither as clean or synthetic as other releases of this ilk. Unfortunately, both its moderate sillage and poor longevity (roughly two hours) prevent it from being awarded an extra star. Still, it's a lot better than Montale's other fresh or aquatic interpretations.
