Notes: Sicilian citrus fruits, Mexican vanilla
Dulcis in Fundo is a scrumptious vanilla and orange creation, with a simplicity that doesn't detract from the fact that it smells so good.
Very reminiscent of a freshly baked vanilla cake, with orange-flavoured icing, it promisingly begins with a vividly succulent and natural orange pulp vibrancy, before swiftly appeasing itself and allowing a sweet powdery vanilla accord to emerge. The vanilla is resinous, creamy and exquisite, and effortlessly intermingles with the opening citrus notes. The overall effect is both delicious and quite addictive.
Unfortunately, the chorus of citruses doesn't last particularly long, before all that's left are faint traces amidst a rich vanilla drydown. While the sillage is satisfying at the outset, it eventually quietens down significantly. Like its sibling, Vanitas, the vanilla is beautifully executed but Dulcis in Fundo never manages to match the tenacity of Vanitas (which is a very tall order).
The composition evidently consists of a high percentage of natural ingredients, and it stands up extremely well as an innovative gourmand. It's also one of Profumum's most exceptional offerings and is truly full bottle-worthy, even though it's exceedingly expensive.
