Year: 2008
Notes: spices, oud, carnation, white flowers, vanilla, sandalwood
Aoud Oeillet d'Inde is a rather satisfying carnation and oud coupling, which is vaguely reminiscent of Guerlain's Metalys (originally released as Metallica). There doesn't appear to be much oud present but the subtle spices (possibly saffron and clove) provide a comforting warmth to the overall proceedings.
With mellow white florals accompanying a light sandalwood and vanilla base, it's a softer Montale offering that comes across as more floral than spicy. As a result, it could be considered too feminine for some. However, for those who are seeking a reasonable carnation fragrance, it's certainly worth looking into.
