Described as a "white and golden dream", White is the second Puredistance offering by Antoine Lie and serves as the feminine counterpart to Black. With a 38% perfume oil concentration, it's also the highest concentrated release from this luxury niche house to date. Sadly, that's the only positive thing about it, as this floral-oriental smells both derivative and unfinished.

Commencing with a radiant floral opening, it gradually evolves into something cosy, creamy and musky (in the clean synthetic sense) with reasonable depth. During most of its lifespan, there's an underlining woody nucleus of vetiver and patchouli, which reveals a masculine side to the composition. However, with the addition of some powdery orris, there are long periods when it smells surprisingly off or crude on the skin.

Personally, one really can't see either Black or White doing much to enhance Puredistance's reputation, which is already spotty at best. But, if one had to choose between the two, Black would win hands down.

Sillage is moderate but its longevity is exceptionally good.
